BARCELONA, Spain (AP) a Rafael Nadal won the Barcelona Open for the eighth time Sunday, beating Nicolas Almagro 6-4, 6-3 for his last name of the year. That latest victory, with next month's French Open approaching, is a promising sign that Nadal gets back once again to full strength from the leg injury that sidelined him since last summer "I am very happy," he explained. "It has been an important week for me to get here again and a fantastic way to obtain joy after everything I have been through." After walking 3-0 in the very first collection, Nadal found his kind and broke his fellow Spaniard in three of his next four support games to simply take control in a final played in a snow. Straight finals have been made six by him since returning from his leg injury. This name, the 54th of his profession, comes seven days after his eight-year reign at Monte Carlo concluded with a to top-ranked Novak Djokovic. Nadal won the Barcelona Open from 2005-09 but didn't play this season due to a knee injury. He has gained every year since. He's gained 39 direct matches on the red clay at Real Club de Tenis, his last loss coming 10 years ago to Spain's Davis Cup captain, Alex Corretja. Almaro, ranked 12th, has dropped all 10 of his matches to Nadal. He liked an excellent start Sunday and broke Nadal's first service game with a forehand champion before keeping offer to love.
