Steven Pienaar's 15th second purpose proved to be enough for the hosts, with Martin Jol's part proving to be incredibly toothless in attack. Everton were boosted by the return of Phil Jagielka and Nikica Jelavic, while Giorgos Karagounis replaced the hanging Steve Sidwell in attack for the visitors. The hosts made the better start, an early effort was lashed by Victor Anichebe over from 25 meters, while Marouane Fellaini nodded directly at Mark Scwarzer from a corner. Everton eventually took the lead in the 15th minute. Seamus Coleman locked onto Leon Osman's through ball on the right and lower the ball to Pienaar located his attempt beyond Schwarzer in to the left-hand side of the web. Fellaini went close twice in rapid succession as he first struck an effort barely large before a effort was blocked by team-mate Anichebe. The guests have been ponderous in strike, but went close just before the break as Kieran Richardson placed a ball across target that a falling Mladen Petric was inches away from submiting. Everton made the brighter start in the next half, but it was Fulham who nearly levelled the scores. Alex Kaciliknic's cut-back discovered Urby Emanuelson in the field but he spooned his work wide of the article. Leighton Baines then put a pleasant cross into the six-yard box but it was wasted again by Jelavic as the ball glanced harmlessly off the Croat and wide of the Fulham target. Mirallas thought he must have had a fee in the minute in difficult with Stanislav Manolev but the ball was clearly won by the Fulham defender well. The game must have been wrapped up in the 85th second when the ball made its solution to Fellaini on the right-hand side of the box. With the goal gaping his shot was hit by him to the soil and it moved within the crossbar. Change Ross Barkley could have covered up the win as he experienced on purpose in stoppage time, but he could not defeat the onrushing Mark Schwarzer, even though one-goal benefit was enough to seal a win.
