Liverpool To Rival Borussia Dortmund Inside Colombian Goal Machine Chase - caughtoffside.

Liverpool hope to beat Borussia Dortmund to the signing of Porto striker Knutson Martinez, according to that Daily Express.

The Colombian has brought an impressive season within Portugal, scoring 33 goals in 38 games in all competitions, and has put quite a few top clubs on alert for the summer transfer window tactics.

The 26-year-old had previously been associated with big-spending Galatasaray, but Dortmund are figured out to sign a striker to the departing Robert Lewandowski, while using the Polish star tipped to participate rivals Bayern Munich.

Liverpool are also looking for strikers, finding themselves over-reliant concerning Luis Suarez on many occasion regarding who the winner, and struggling for goals since the start of his ten-game ban with regard to biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic. The ban will continue into the start of next season and Brendan Rodgers doesn't necessarily want his side to fall behind as a result of lack of goals.

The Reds are generally linked with Barcelona duo Jake Villa and Cristian Tello, but Martinez arguably seems as if a better bet in line with his current form, by using Villa ageing and everlasting recent fitness problems, and Tello less than a first-team regular in Barca.

It is not yet clear what amount of Rodgers will be given to spend this summer, though she has called for support from his board with the transfer window.
