Rio Ferdinand indicates Manchester United's subject is greater than City's - The Guardian

Rio Ferdinand appeared to have a dig at Manchester City when he proposed Manchester United's title gain had been more useful because it hadn't been done on goal difference, in contrast to their opponents' end-of-season success last time round. "It is always special whenever you win the title and it's nice to accomplish it here, in the proper way and in type, not on purpose difference," said Ferdinand, whose title was his sixth. "We have won it outright and we've won it comfortably." There have been some who felt United might struggle to recover from the traumatization last season was suffered by them, when City overtook them in the last minutes of these final game, but Ferdinand highlighted the determination to recover that Sir Alex Ferguson has drummed into them. "It only shows the durability and attitude the director has developed in us," said Ferdinand. "A large amount of clubs could possibly have fallen away. "We played a couple to Liverpool of months ago when they were fighting for the concept, we beat them and got to the league before them and they have not been seen since. That shows the attitude and character that this membership has." He also paid tribute to the impact Robin van Persie has already established on the membership. "Robin is a large factor," said Ferdinand. "Last period we dropped on goal huge difference, which lets you know that we didn't score enough objectives. We introduced a guy who had been prime scorer [in the Premier League] last season and he seems like he's planning to do that again this season. He's positively added to what we'd already."
