Nebraska Football: Tommie Frazier Eventually Gets Hall of Fame Induction

Well, itas about time. Nebraska football story Tommie Frazier, after years and years of waiting, has been inducted into the 2013 class of the College Football Hall of Fame. Frazier has been snubbed time and time again, and his induction has been greeted with relief (and a little exasperation) by Nebraska supporters. Place discussed before how Frazieras snub was due partly for some of the rules of the School Football Hall of Fame. But was there an incident to be made that Frazier actually didnat fit amongst college footballas elite? Research Over his profession, Frazier had 342 carries for 1,955 yards and 36 touchdowns. He threw for 3,521 yards and 43 touchdowns. In contrast, Ohio Stateas Eddie George (and Frazieras Heisman nemesis) had 4,302 whole yards from scrimmage and 45 touchdowns. John Dayne, who'll maintain Frazieras Hall of Fame course, had a total of 7,429 yards from scrimmage and 71 touchdowns. So Frazieras stats, while good, undoubtedly didn't shout out that he was a Hall of Famer. Surrounding Cast From 1992-1995, the years Frazier was at Nebraska, the Cornhuskers were 45-4, with three of those losses coming in Frazieras freshman year. The Nebraska roster was littered with potential NFL stars, specially on the offensive line. Clearly, Frazieras skill was a huge element of these teamsa success. But at the least a quarrel could be made that Frazier was served by playing on this kind of good group. Recall, in 1995, not just did Nebraska go undefeated, it won all but certainly one of its games by significantly more than three touchdowns. That sort of importance is a team effort, certainly. So Frazier, skilled as he was, certainly benefitted from being surrounded by such a strong supporting cast. As whenever we look at specific respects like a Hall of Fame, probably being on such a group will have to be taken into account, a result. However a OK, thatas the argument (such as it's) for maintaining Frazier from the Hall of Fame provided that he was. But those reasons actually donat stack up all that well against the weight of evidence in support of Frazieras induction. While the supporting cast argument may have just a little fat, fundamentally there is no denying the fact that Frazier was the starting quarterback for back-to-back national champions, and the offensive leader on the 1995 team that was (at least arguably) the greatest team in the history of college basketball. And there is no doubt as to Frazieras management of that group. His superior athletic ability, combined with an intense sense of competition and desire for quality from his teammates and himself pressed Nebraska over the line. When Byron Bennettas end sailed large in the 1993 Orange Bowl, making Nebraska two points in short supply of a national title, it absolutely was Frazieras steel-willed determination that helped guide Nebraska to its aUnfinished Businessa plan, earning Tom Osborneas first national title per year later. And then, there is aThe Runa against Florida. If there was ever one play that epitomized Frazier as a guy and Nebraska as a staff, it was aThe Run.a Frazier, on an alternative, breaking tackle after tackle, on his way to a 75-yard touchdown to greatly help seal Nebraskaas rout of Steve Spurrieras Fun-N-Gun Gators. Even though Frazier wasnat in the Hall of Fame, that play should be. Frazier ended his career with a (!) report as a starter, which can be the greatest information. So congratulations to Frazier (today HoF 2013) on a long-overdue recognition.
