A brilliant purpose by Demba Ba and a late rise by Chelsea wasn't enough to overturn Manchester City's early two-goal lead. Manchester City are headed to the FA Cup final after a late surge was held off by them from Chelsea. The Citizens went up 2-0 early in the next half and were the higher part in the initial half, but attempted to sit on their cause next. Chelsea hauled one goal back, but City could resist a late barrage from Rafa Benitez's side to win 2-1 and move ahead to meet Wigan in May. As the opening period was completely dominated by City, it took 20 minutes for Chelsea to come to the sport at all. Petr Cech was pushed in to motion quite early and made a brilliant save your self in the minute on a by Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian forward had yet another strong opportunity in the moment, but Branislav Ivanovic created a fantastic block. Eden Hazard had Chelsea's first chance of the sport in the 23rd minute, adhering to a free end, when his volley was cleaned off the point by Vincent Kompany. Chelsea played far better from the period until the end of the match, but went down 12 minutes later in somewhat unfortunate trend. City's first goal was won by Samir Nasri, though the opportunity would have been wasted when it was not for an extremely lucky bounce. Yaya Toure started the move with a fantastic run forward and a ball into it was touched by the center of the pitch for Aguero, who to Nasri. Rather than shooting on goal, Nasri tried to play the ball out wide. Fortuitously for him, it deflected back into his way and a better decision was made by him along with his next option, finishing previous Cech. The final minutes of the half found City produce two more good possibilities, though they failed to capitalize on both of them. Cech slapped a moving ball from Aguero in the second, though it only went so far as Milner. He had the goal at his mercy, but instead struck the ball into Aguero, who was simply standing in a offside position. Milner lost a straight better chance -- a four-on-one table -- in first half stoppage time. With lots of teammates to choose, he instead crossed the ball right at Cech. The Chelsea owner didn't produce a great strike and the ball fell to Kompany, but his shot went wide. Less than two minutes to the second half, City eventually capitalized on another chance and doubled their lead. The chance was set up by gareth Barry, lobbing a diagonal ball in to the field from the right flank. Aguero made a great run to split up Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta, getting on the finish of the ball and lobbing a over a cement-shoed Cech. Chelsea visited a more attacking collection just after the time draw, launching Fernando Torres, and a goal was pulled by them back very soon after he came on. Demba Ba was the scorer, finishing off a long ball from David Luiz by having an absolutely fabulous reach. After the ball moved in the penalty area, he made an amazing turn and hit an unstoppable scissored half-volley to the far post, providing Chelsea a shot at a comeback. Despite several excellent chances, Chelsea never found their equalizer. Juan Mata had a charge shout in the minute after the ball fell to him at the end of a table, but Costel Pantilimon got all of the none and ball of the Spaniard when he went down to state. Only one second later, Pantilimon was called in to action again after Hazard beat Gael Clichy at the endline and entered for Ba, who directed his shot right at the Town owner. In the 81st moment, Chris Foy failed to spot a little of foul play by Aguero on Luiz. While the two were battling for the ball, Aguero devoted a fairly harmless foul while wanting to win the ball, then strangely jumped up and lunged in to Luiz with both feet. Neither Foy or his assistants spotted Aguero's misdemeanor, and it went unpunished. Torres had a fee scream in the last moment of normal time for what appeared as if a shirt pull by Kompany, but Foy waved play on. In the final moment of stoppage time, Hazard hit a over the bar from length, wasting Chelsea's last opportunity to catch an equalizer as City hung on for a berth in the FA Cup final.
