Firefighters tackle a ceiling fire in Pennard Road, Shepherd's Bush FIREFIGHTERS arrived in the nick of time for you to stop a ceiling fire burning down a Shepherd's Bush home. Builders were working on the top of the property in Pennard Road at about 1pm on Wednesday (April 10) when timber caught fire, and threatened to spread quickly. But four crews from Kensington, North Kensington, Fulham and Hammersmith got the fire in check and were there super fast. View boss Roland Heal said: "The great deal would have gone up quickly. It just needs a blowtorch to capture a little of decaying wood and you could have fire distributing really easily." The home had no smoke detectors and can now be equipped with them by the brigade for free. Mr Heal said anyone who is thinking about having free alarms mounted within their home must contact London Fire Brigade for a consultation.
