La Kings Beat Increase 3-2 in a Shootout to Keep Fourth in the West

The La Kings defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in a shootout Thursday to keep pace in the aggressive Western Conference. The Kings sit fourth in the west, just one place up on the San Jose Sharks and two things up on the St. Louis Blues. La entered the game having dropped 5-1 to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, while the last place Avalanche were coming off one of their best games of the season after beating the Anaheim Ducks 4-1. The Avalanche put themselves in a terrible situation early, however, getting three penalties in the first 11 minutes of the overall game. The Kings made them pay, with two quick goals from Mike Richards and Jeff Carter. The Kings preserved get a grip on for the duration of all of the period, outshooting Colorado 15-4, but were unable to pad their two-goal lead. In the second time the momentum did actually shift, because the Kings were slow and inadequate in their own end. Robert Stastny got advantage, adding the Avalanche on the table late in the period, with David Jones drawing the assist. Co continued to create odds in the next, with Patrick Bordeleau registering his first NHL goal to even the score. Bordeleau was also a pressure actually, finishing with five hits on the night time. Midway through the third goaltender Sami Aittokallio, who was simply making his NHL debut, suffered a personal injury and needed to be helped off the snow. Giguere entered the overall game and helped hold off the Kings, who arrived on strong late in the 3rd and in overtime. However, Giguere wasnat at his best in the shootout as Jeff Carter, Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar all scored to secure the success for the Kings. Jonathan Quick stopped 26-of-28 images in the first 65 minutes and turned away 1 of 2 efforts in the shootout. Although they outshot the Avalanche 37-28, the Kings played badly throughout nearly all of the 2nd half the overall game. These were outmatched literally and made the puck over a lot of times. And yet, they found a way to get two things. The Kings have eight activities outstanding, including two from the Sharks and one each versus the Ducks and Wild.
